A big news related to Maharashtra Government’s ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ has come to light. Under this scheme, accounts of about 68 lakh beneficiaries have been closed. The reason given for this is that these people did not complete the mandatory e-KYC process within the time limit.
According to government officials, a total of 2.43 crore accounts were registered under this scheme. But out of these, about 68 lakh accounts did not get e-KYC done by the stipulated time i.e. 31st March. Due to which they were temporarily closed. Now the number of active accounts in the scheme has reduced to about 1.75 crore.
Government extended the last date of e-KYC
E-KYC i.e. online customer verification is an important process, through which the government ensures that the benefits of the scheme reach the right person. For this reason, it was made mandatory for all the beneficiaries to complete this process on time. However, giving relief to the people, the government has extended the last date of e-KYC.
Now beneficiaries can complete their e-KYC process till 30th April. Officials say that those who update their information within this new deadline can have their accounts reactivated.

People should complete their e-KYC as soon as possible – Government
The government believes that this step will increase transparency in the scheme and fake or inactive accounts can be removed. At the same time, people whose accounts have been closed have been appealed to complete their e-KYC as soon as possible, so that they can continue to get the benefits of the scheme. After this decision, concern is also being seen among the beneficiaries, but with the extension of the deadline, they have got another chance.
