Kevin Pietersen IPL Career: Former captain of England cricket team Kevin Pietersen has made a big revelation. Pietersen claimed that IPL ended his career. In fact, the veteran cricketer threw light on those days when his relations with the ECB started getting affected due to playing in the Indian Premier League. Pietersen also claimed that it is because of his sacrifices that today England players are able to play in the IPL without any restrictions.

Speaking to podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia, Kevin Pietersen talked about the days when the ECB was reluctant to send players in the central contract list to the IPL. He told how the decline of his international cricket career started due to playing in IPL.

Kevin Pietersen said, “I made many big sacrifices, my career was over. That’s why everyone on the board turned against me.” He gave this statement on a question in which he was asked what his reaction was to the England players playing in the IPL today.

Due to playing in IPL while being a part of England team, his relations with ECB officials started deteriorating. The issue of Pietersen and ECB had created a stir in the entire cricket world. Pietersen scored 8,181 runs in his 104-match Test career. But Pietersen believes that due to IPL, his career went in another direction and his career should have ended with 12-13 thousand test runs.

Pietersen says that it is the result of his tough decision to play in the Indian Premier League that today England cricketers are able to play in the IPL without any restrictions.

Kevin Pietersen’s IPL career

Kevin Pietersen played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils and Rising Pune Super Giants in his IPL career. He scored 1,001 runs in his 36-match IPL career. He also scored a century and 4 fifties.
