If the Mumbai-Rajasthan match is washed out due to rain, will the match be played on the reserve day? Know the rule of rain in IPL

The 13th match of the IPL 2026 tournament is to be played between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. This match is to be held at Baraspara Stadium in Guwahati, but the toss was delayed due to rain. Earlier on Monday, rain had also interfered in the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings.

Now rain has become a villain in the match between Mumbai and Rajasthan Royals also. Is there any rule of reserve day for league stage matches if the match cannot be played due to bad weather? Here you will get the answer to this question.

Will MI vs RR match be held on reserve day?

There is no rule of reserve day for IPL league stage matches. Whenever rain or storm creates any hindrance in a league stage match, efforts are made to conduct at least a five-over match on the same day. The number of overs is reduced according to the amount of time lost and finally a cut-off time is issued for a match of five overs each. If even a five-over match is not possible then the match is declared cancelled. There is no reserve day for league stage matches.

If we look at the status of the points table, Mumbai Indians are currently at sixth position, having registered one win in 2 matches. On the other hand, under the captaincy of Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals have shown tremendous performance and the team has won both its matches so far. Rajasthan team is currently at third position in the points table. If today’s match is cancelled, both the teams will get one point each.
