KL Rahul has become the fastest batsman to score 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The wicketkeeper batsman achieved this feat during the eight -wicket win of Delhi Capitals on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday. Rahul achieved this feat in 130 innings and overtook David Warner (135), Virat Kohli (157), AB de Villiers (161) and Shikhar Dhawan (168) in this list.
Rahul, who has captained for IPL 2024 (Lucknow Super Giants), is playing as a wicketkeeper batsman for Delhi Capitals this year. Last year, he was released by the franchise after a sharp noise from Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants owner. Rahul scored an unbeaten 57 off 42 balls in front of Lucknow Super Giants.
He batted carefully against the spin invasion of Aidan Markram, Digvesh Rathi and Ravi Bishnoi. However, he continued to play his shots in between.
Rahul scored a half -century in 40 balls with the help of three fours and 3 sixes and did not give the Lucknow bowlers a chance to return with Akshar Patel. He won the match by hitting a six off the ball of Prince Yadav.
Rahul is in tremendous form this season, he became the fastest Indian to recently hit 200 IPL sixes and he is the third fastest player after West Indies big hitters Chris Gayle and Andre Russell.
Rahul is in great form for Delhi this season and he has done well on this occasion. His strike rate has been 155.67 in this season, which is the second highest strike rate of his 12 seasons in the league.
The 33 -year -old has scored 359 runs in eight innings and has played an important role in the team’s victory. His best performance was against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, when he scored an unbeaten 93 and won the team by six wickets. Rahul could not play his first match for Delhi Capitals due to personal reasons.
