While talking to Hindustan Times, Udaybir said that he had auditioned for the film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. But Diljit Dosanjh got the lead role in this film. He had worked very hard for this character and had given the audition with complete preparation. The makers also liked his work, but director Imtiaz Ali wanted to cast an artist for this role who could also sing songs.
Udaybir further said that later Diljit Dosanjh was selected for this role. Diljit did a brilliant job in the film, but he himself could have played this character well because he had worked hard for it. However, because of this audition, he got the opportunity to work in the role of another Punjabi singer, which helped in taking his career forward.
