Kolkata Knight Riders finally got their first win in IPL 2026. KKR won a completely lost match against Rajasthan Royals. While chasing 155 runs, KKR lost 6 wickets for 85 runs in the 14th over. From here Rinku Singh and Anukul Roy turned the tables. KKR won the match by 4 wickets with two balls remaining. This is KKR’s first win in IPL 2026.
After Kolkata’s thrilling victory, captain Ajinkya Rahane said, “I am very happy with this victory. After the match, I got five minutes of extra time. It feels very good. Many types of emotions were rising during the match, but personally I am very happy for Rinku Singh, Anukul Roy and Varun Chakraborty. Varun Chakraborty was going through a difficult phase, but he has bowled brilliantly in the last three matches. Rinku Singh is also going through a mentally difficult phase. Was very happy to see him finish the match.”
Regarding Anukul Roy not being allowed to bowl, Rahane said, “He (Anukul Roy) had a great domestic season. He is a very confident player. Today, due to the pairing of left-handed and right-handed batsmen, he could not bowl, but it was a great pleasure to see the partnership that both of them played for us.”
In a way, Rahane gave credit for this victory to Rinku Singh, Anukul Roy and Varun Chakraborty. However, Rahane also praised fast bowling Karthik Tyagi. Tyagi took three wickets. Rahane looked very happy after getting his first win in IPL 2026. He could not score runs in this match. Rahane was out on zero.
In this match, Rajasthan had scored only 155 runs after playing first, but the bowlers wreaked havoc and dropped 6 wickets for Kolkata’s 85 runs. The required run rate was 12. It seemed that the match was over, but Rinku Singh (53 not out in 34 balls) and Anukul Roy (29 not out in 16 balls) turned the tables. This is KKR’s first win.
