Pahalgam Terror Attack 2025: The terrorist attack that took place on April 22 last year in Pahalgam, Kashmir is still fresh in the minds of people. That day, terrorists targeted civilians in Baisaran Valley and killed about 26 people. The beautiful valleys had turned red with blood and this incident, which shocked the entire country, is still leaving questions even after a year.
After the attack, Baisaran Valley was closed for tourists due to security reasons, which continues till now. This closure has directly affected the local economy. In Pahalgam and surrounding areas, about 5000 families associated with hotels, restaurants, dhabas, taxis, horses and ponies are still facing financial crisis.
CTI wrote a letter to PM Modi, demanding review
Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI), the apex organization of traders, has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this issue. CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal has demanded that the situation in Baisaran Valley and the surrounding areas be reviewed again. He says that if the security system is completely strong, then consideration should be given to reopening the valley for tourists.
Situation normal, peace prevails – Local Hotel Association
Pahalgam Hotel Association President Javed Burja has contacted CTI and informed about the current situation. According to him, there is now complete peace in the area and the situation has become normal. Despite this, local business is being badly affected due to the closure of the valley.
Huge decline in the number of tourists
According to Javed Burja, in the last one year the number of tourists has decreased to only 15 to 20 percent. Due to this, hotels, restaurants, dhabas and other tourism based businesses have almost come to a standstill. He believes that reopening of the valley can give a new impetus to tourism.
Estimated loss of Rs 10 thousand crores
According to CTI’s assessment, after this incident there has been a loss of business worth Rs 10 thousand crore in Kashmir. Brijesh Goyal says that the government should inspect the area with strict security arrangements and when satisfied, Baisaran Valley should be opened.
Opening of the valley will send a positive message.
CTI believes that reopening the Baisaran Valley will not only send a strong message against terrorism, but will also be a true tribute to those killed in the attack. This will give a new lease of life to the tourism and hospitality sector of Kashmir and thousands of affected families will get relief.
