‘Iranians had sent a new peace proposal, but…’, Trump’s big claim after Tehran-Washington talks stalled

On the lack of talks between the two countries amid the US-Iran ceasefire, Donald Trump said that the Iranians had sent a new peace proposal, but it could have been better so they rejected it.

“They gave us an offer that could have been even better. The interesting thing is that as soon as I canceled it, within 10 minutes we got a new offer that was much better,” Trump told reporters on Saturday (April 26) before boarding Air Force One to return to Washington from Florida.

Amid stalled talks with Iran, US President Donald Trump said that the Iranians had sent a new peace proposal, but it could have been better. Although the US President did not give any information about this new proposal, except that he proposed a lot, he emphasized that one of his conditions is that Iran should not have nuclear weapons.

Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff’s visit to Pakistan canceled
Donald Trump defended the decision to cancel the visit of Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to Pakistan, calling it very expensive. Donald Trump said that it is not appropriate for meetings with unrecognized officials. Trump had canceled the visit of his senior adviser Jared Kushner and Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Steve Witkoff, who were scheduled to go to Islamabad for talks. He cited the long travel time, high expenses and the absence of the Iranian leadership from the proposed meetings.

Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had said that Tehran has shared a workable framework with the Pakistani leadership to permanently end the conflict, while he raised serious questions over the US commitment to diplomacy.
