Turmoil in the global fuel market

This stagnation in retail fuel prices has come despite a rapid increase in the global crude benchmark. According to Reuters, Brent crude is trading above $ 106 per barrel, while US crude is around $ 95. Last week, the biggest weekly increase has been recorded in both of them since the start of the war.

The surge is fueled by stalled peace talks between the US and Iran and continuing blockages in the Strait of Hormuz – a vital global oil transport route that carries about a fifth of the world’s oil flows. There is a shortage in the market due to limited movement of tankers and shortage in supply.
