US President Donald Trump strongly criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s statement on the ongoing dispute with Iran. Trump accused the German Chancellor of misunderstanding Tehran’s nuclear intentions and misrepresenting his stand.

Donald Trump wrote in a post on the social media platform ‘Truth Social’, ‘Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz thinks it is okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons. They have no idea about this! If Iran had nuclear weapons, the whole world would have become hostage.

Trump took a dig at Friedrich Merz

The US President further said that right now I am doing something with Iran which other countries or presidents should have done long ago. He took a dig at Merz by saying that it was no wonder that Germany was performing so poorly economically and in other matters.

What statement did the German Chancellor give?

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had criticized America’s handling of the Iran dispute. He had said that Iran’s leadership was ‘insulting’ the United States in diplomatic talks. The Chancellor referred to the failed talks in which it was said that the US delegation had gone to Pakistan without any progress.

Friedrich Merz also raised questions on Washington’s grand strategy. The German Chancellor said that he does not see any clear plan to get out of the Iran war.
