Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati expressed concern over the huge increase in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders, saying that this will affect the lives of common people. He said that there is uneasiness among the people due to the fear that soon the prices of LPG, petrol and diesel and other petroleum products may also increase.

Mayawati said in a post on ‘X’, ‘Amidst the shortage of commercial cylinders in the country, the news related to the one-time increase in the price of Rs 993 and its impact on the life of common people is coming out prominently in all the media. Also, concern has increased among people due to the fear that soon the prices of LPG, petrol and diesel and other petroleum products will also increase.
He said, ‘Whether the real reason for this is America-Israel’s war on Iran or any other reason, the way the government kept the prices of petroleum products under control to a great extent, especially in view of the state assembly elections, it will be in the national interest to continue that policy even now in the larger public interest and public welfare.’ He said that according to the new rate in Delhi also, the price of commercial cylinder will now exceed Rs 3,000.

The BSP chief said that the government should decide its policies only after assessing what effect such increase in the prices of petroleum products will have on the poor and middle class people who are already suffering from inflation. The biggest ever increase in the price of commercial LPG was recorded on Friday and an increase of Rs 993 was made on 19 kg cylinder.
