US President Donald Trump on Tuesday (July 14, 2026) withdrew the decision to impose 20 percent ‘Hormuz Toll’ on cargo ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Instead, Trump has now decided to make big agreements related to trade and investment with the countries included in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
He announced this during a press conference with the Prime Minister of Iraq at the White House. Trump said that no one should be charged for passing through Hormuz. At the same time, a day earlier on Monday (July 13, 2026), US President Donald Trump had said that America will impose 20 percent toll (fee) on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
However, Trump said that Gulf countries contacted him regarding this matter and said that they would prefer to invest in America instead.

During this time, the US President also made an announcement regarding taking strict action against all ships belonging to Iran in the Strait of Hormuz. He said that any ship carrying Iranian goods and coming and going from any port of Iran will not be allowed to enter the Strait of Hormuz.
