Manoj Tiwary On Mamata Banerjee: Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) had to face a crushing defeat in the Bengal elections. After this defeat, former Team India cricketer Manoj Tiwari made big allegations against Mamata and told why she left TMC. Regarding the defeat, Manoj said that he was not surprised at all because the party is involved in corruption.
5 crores demanded for ticket
Speaking to news agency PTI, the former Indian cricketer said that Trinamool Congress refused to give him a ticket from Shibpur seat of Howrah because he did not pay Rs 5 crore. Apart from this, Manoj also made it clear that now his chapter with the party is closed. Let us tell you that Manoj Tiwari was the Sports Minister in the Mamata-led government.
70-72 people gave Rs 5-5 crore for the ticket
Speaking to news agency PTI, Manoj Tiwari said, “Those who could afford the huge amount were able to buy tickets. This time at least 70-72 candidates paid Rs 5 crore each to get the ticket. I was also asked for money, but I refused.”
Not at all surprised by the defeat
Manoj said, “I was not at all surprised by this crushing defeat. When the entire party is involved in corruption and there is no development in any area, then this was what was to happen.”
had no intention of entering politics
Manoj told, “I was playing for Punjab Kings in the IPL at that time and was serious about playing in the Ranji Trophy. At that time Didi (Mamata) wanted me to contest the Lok Sabha elections. I had refused, but before the 2021 elections, Didi called me once again and said that Manoj, I have a message for you and Arup will give you that message. I was asked to contest from Shivpur. I thought that I can make some meaningful changes.”
