After the exciting match played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026, a new controversy has now come to light. RCB’s explosive batsman Tim David has been fined for violating the IPL code of conduct. An objectionable gesture made during the match got him in trouble. After this match, first action was taken against RCB head coach Andy Flower and now Tim David has also come under the grip of IPL disciplinary action.
Made objectionable gesture during celebration
In this high-voltage match played against Mumbai Indians, Tim David made a middle finger gesture while celebrating from the dugout. After this act captured on camera, the discussion on social media also intensified. Taking this matter seriously, IPL found Tim David guilty. In the official statement issued by the league, it was said that the player has violated the Level-1 rule of the IPL Code of Conduct.
Match fee deducted, two demerit points given
IPL administration has deducted 30 percent of Tim David’s match fee as fine. Apart from this, he has also been given two demerit points.
According to the statement, David was found guilty under Article 2.6 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This rule deals with obscene, insulting or inappropriate gestures. Match referee Amit Sharma took this action against him.

Tim David admitted his mistake
According to the report, Tim David has accepted his mistake. He accepted the punishment given by the match referee and did not make any appeal. According to IPL rules, the match referee’s decision in Level-1 violation is considered final.

Thrilling match continued till the last ball
Talking about the match, RCB defeated Mumbai Indians by 2 wickets in a very close match. Batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 166 runs for 7 wickets. Tilak Verma played important innings of 57 runs and Naman Dheer played 47 runs. Chasing the target, RCB won on the last ball. Krunal Pandya played a brilliant inning of 73 runs and led the team to victory. However, Tim David could not make any significant contribution with the bat and was out on the very first ball.
