The patience of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), an ally of the United Democratic Front (UDF) alliance, over the delay in the selection of the new Chief Minister of Kerala seems to be running out and many of its leaders say that they are unable to face the public’s questions on this issue.
Kurukkoli Moideen, IUML MLA from Tirur assembly, told reporters here on Wednesday that wherever he goes. Everyone, especially women, keeps asking him why there is a delay in the selection of the Chief Minister.
He said that but the bigger problem than this delay is the open disagreement within the Congress on this issue.
The MLA said, “This has become a big issue. Even Congress workers are disappointed. Women are also asking when the Chief Minister will be selected. I am confident that Congress has a strong leadership, so all these problems will be solved.”
Kondotty seat MLA TV Ibrahim had said a day earlier that the delay by the Congress in taking a decision on who should be the Chief Minister has tarnished the UDF’s victory celebrations and has left its workers and MLAs unable to face the public.
Ibrahim had also said that technically this may be an internal matter of the Congress, but in view of public interest, the delay is “unacceptable” and a decision should be taken as soon as possible.
The three main contenders for the post of Chief Minister are senior leaders Ramesh Chennithala, V.D. Satheesan and All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary (Organization) K. This is C. Venugopal.
