The police once again did not allow the sisters of former Wazir-e-Azam (Prime Minister) and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, lodged in Adiala jail of Pakistan, to meet them. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was also with him. This information was given by the local media on Wednesday (May 13, 2026).
According to Pakistani daily The Express Tribune, while speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Imran Khan’s sister Alima Khan said that refusing to meet Imran Khan is contempt of court. Quoting the rules, he said that the Islamabad High Court has given clear orders for family meetings every Tuesday and Thursday; Despite this, he was not allowed to meet brother Imran.
Alima Khan said, ‘Imran Khan is not only our brother but also a PTI leader, that is why we said that we need all of you (press). Come here and create pressure so that Imran Khan can get proper treatment in the hospital… Imran Khan had staged a strike for 128 days. He spent day and night on the streets. Everyone will have to show some courage. These are difficult times and we are doing whatever we can.
PTI has been continuously accusing Imran Khan of not getting proper medical care during his police custody. Recently, despite completing 1,000 days, he had described his detention as an act of political persecution. According to the party, the constitutional and judicial rights of the former PM are clearly being flouted.
UAE’s Gulf Today quoted PTI’s Central Information Secretary Waqas Akram as saying that PTI founder Imran Khan is facing political harassment because the current government is afraid of his popularity and independent views. This is the reason why efforts are being made to sideline him.
