Kerala New CM: Congress Legislature Party meeting will be held tomorrow i.e. Thursday at 11 am in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. In this, the decision on the new Chief Minister of Kerala will be taken. The CM’s name will be taken on behalf of the Congress President in the meeting, because the MLAs have already passed a resolution and given the Congress President the right to choose the leader of the legislative party.

Brainstorming in Congress on CM

There was continuous discussion on this issue among the top leadership of the party. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh indicated on Wednesday that the name of the chief minister would be announced on Thursday. Earlier, Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi discussed the final round of selection of the Chief Minister of Kerala. There was a meeting between the two leaders at their residence at ’10 Rajaji Marg’ for more than half an hour, in which possible names were discussed.

News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that organization general secretary K.C. Venugopal, former leader of opposition V.D. Satheesan and senior leader Ramesh Chennithala are the main contenders in the race for the post of Chief Minister.

It is noteworthy that in the Congress Legislature Party meeting held on May 7, a resolution was passed giving the party high command the right to choose the leader. In the recently concluded assembly elections, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) won a clear majority by winning 102 out of 140 seats, but despite this, there is a delay in agreeing on the name of the Chief Minister.

IUML will open its cards tomorrow

Amidst the ongoing wait for the announcement of the post of Chief Minister in Kerala, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has made it clear that it will decide its stand only after the final decision of the Congress. IUML, the main ally of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), held an important meeting on this issue on Wednesday.

This meeting was held at the Panakkad residence of IUML chief Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal. After the meeting, senior party leader P.K. Kunhalikutty said that the party leadership has authorized Thangal to take any decision regarding the post of Chief Minister.

Kunhalikutty said that IUML is currently waiting for the decision of the Congress high command in Delhi and the party will clarify its stand only after the official announcement of the name of the Chief Minister. He also said that the delay in the selection of the Chief Minister is a natural part of the democratic process and it has not affected the administration of the state.

However, he avoided giving direct answers to questions related to the displeasure of some leaders and MLAs within the party. In the meeting, IUML State General Secretary P.M.A. Many senior leaders including Salam, MP MP Abdussamad Samdani and PV Abdul Wahab were present. It is noteworthy that UDF has got a clear majority in the recently held assembly elections, but the pressure on the Congress leadership is increasing continuously to end the uncertainty regarding the name of the Chief Minister.
