Renault Duster vs Volkswagen Taigun: There is a lot of activity in the Indian auto sector at the moment because two big vehicles have started making their mark in the market. On one side is the Renault Duster, which has rocked the sales charts since its comeback with its new avatar. There has been a huge jump of 108% in Renault’s total sales in April 2026, the entire credit for which goes to the new Duster.

On the other hand, Volkswagen Taigun, which is a testament to German engineering, has also surprised everyone with its performance. A spectacular increase of 70% has been seen in the sales of Taigun as compared to last month. Today’s Indian customer is demanding not only looks but also powerful engine and safety, and both these vehicles are living up to this criteria. With the arrival of these two, the competition in the mid-size SUV segment has become even more interesting.

Duster’s new look and huge demand from customers

Renault Duster has again started spreading the same magic in India for which it was known. In April 2026, the company sold a total of 5,413 vehicles, in which Duster had the biggest contribution. Its starting price starts at ₹10.49 lakh, making it a perfect balance between budget and premium. The new Duster has a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, which generates power of 163 PS, making it the most powerful SUV in its segment.

Besides, features like 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating and advanced ADAS have won the trust of customers. People are going crazy about its off-roading capability and bold look, which is why its bookings and deliveries are increasing rapidly.

There was a huge jump in the sales of Volkswagen Taigun

The month of April was no less than a lottery for Volkswagen Tigun. Wholesale sales of Taigun have reached 1,543 units, which is 70% more than March and 34% more than last year. The reason behind this growth of Taigun is its ‘driving dynamics’ and solid build quality. The company has launched it at a starting price of ₹ 10.99 lakh and has also given many new offers.

Urban buyers who want real driving fun are liking the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI engines of the Taigun. Although big vehicles like Creta and Seltos are already established in the market, Taigun has created its own identity. Now it remains to be seen how much this growth continues in the coming months.
