During the second leg of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s five-nation visit, India on Saturday (May 16, 2026) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Netherlands to improve the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in the country. This agreement has been signed between Tata Group of India and ASML of Netherlands. Regarding this agreement, PM Modi said that cooperation is being further strengthened for future technical areas.

PM Modi shared a post in this regard on social media platform X. He said that Prime Minister Rob Jetten and I witnessed the signing of the agreement between Tata Group and ASML to advance the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India. ASML will support the establishment and expansion of Tata Electronics’ upcoming semiconductor factory to be established in Dholera, Gujarat.

He said, ‘India’s progress in the field of semiconductor is bringing big opportunities for the youth of our country. This is an area in which we will continue to add more momentum and strength in the times to come.

I have full confidence that now you will increase your scope, investment and ambition in India and the innovation ecosystem of entire Europe will also come to India with you.

He said, ‘There is a saying in the Netherlands that ships are safe in port, but ships are not built to stay in port. Who can understand this better than the Dutch business community. While addressing the CEO round table meeting, Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten said, ‘There is a long-term commitment between India and the Netherlands, under which both the countries will work together on common defense against cyber threats and terrorism along with a strong maritime industry, making the supply chain for energy and raw materials more flexible and secure.
