Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has once again extended the last date of application for Nursing Officer Recruitment 2026. Those candidates who were not able to apply till now due to some reason will now have additional time to fill the form. Thousands of candidates are expected to benefit from this decision of the Commission.
Under this recruitment drive, appointments will be made to a total of 5,989 Nursing Officer (Group-III) posts. Selected candidates will be posted in various government health institutions of the state under the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Odisha. The recruitment has been done for all the 30 districts of the state.
According to the revised schedule released by the Commission, the last date for submission of online applications has now been extended to 27 July 2026. Earlier the last date to apply was 13 July 2026. At the same time, candidates who have not yet registered or re-registered can complete this process by July 20, 2026.
When did the recruitment process start?
The official notification of this recruitment was released on 12 June 2026, while the process of online application and registration started from 13 June. At present, the Commission has not announced the date of examination and schedule of release of admit card. Its information will be released later on the official website.
Which districts have the maximum number of posts?
Different vacancies have been fixed for all the 30 districts of the state. Among these, Koraput has the maximum number of 619 posts. After this, a large number of posts are vacant in Angul (486), Cuttack (473), Ganjam (386), Balangir (355), Balasore (347), Nabarangpur (317) and Mayurbhanj (292). Whereas in Jharsuguda district, minimum 37 vacancies have been released.
Who can apply?
To apply for this recruitment, the candidate must have a GNM or B.Sc Nursing degree from a recognized institute. Along with this, it is mandatory for the candidate to be registered with Odisha Nursing Council or Indian Nursing Council (INC).
Talking about age limit, the age of the candidate should be between 21 to 38 years. However, reserved category candidates will be given relaxation in the maximum age limit as per government rules. The Commission has said that detailed information related to eligibility can be seen in the official notification.

How much salary will you get if selected?
Selected candidates will get salary under Level-8 of Odisha Revised Pay Scale Rules (ORSP). The initial basic salary will be Rs 29,200 per month, which can increase up to Rs 92,300. Apart from this, benefits of Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other government allowances will also be available. After adding various allowances, the estimated in-hand salary can be between Rs 40 thousand to Rs 60 thousand per month.
