India’s domestic Under-23 ODI tournament will now be played in T20 format. In the upcoming 2026-27 domestic season, the Under-23 men’s ODI tournament will now be played in T20 format. Also, the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy winner vs Rest of India match will return to the domestic season calendar. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given this information on Wednesday.

A total of 1,788 matches will be played across multiple age-group categories in men’s and women’s cricket in the 2026-27 domestic season. The season will begin with the prestigious Duleep Trophy, which will be played at the Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru from 23 August to 10 September. After this, Irani Cup will start from October 1. It will likely be played in Jammu or Srinagar, as Jammu and Kashmir are the defending champions of the Ranji Trophy, which they won in Hubli earlier this year.

Ranji Trophy will continue in a two-stage format. There will be 32 teams in four groups in the Elite Group and six teams in the Plate Group will play in the normal ‘home-and-away’ format. The Col CK Nayudu Trophy winner vs Rest of India match will be played again on October 1-4. In addition to the Men’s Under-23 State ‘A’ Trophy being converted into a T20 format, the Vijay Trophy will be played in a T20 format instead of an ODI tournament. The knockout stages of the Cooch Behar Trophy (Elite Group) will be held in Bengaluru and Mysore to maintain competitive balance in the matches during January.

Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16) has been postponed to November-January for better scheduling and preparation of players. Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite Group league matches will be held from September 27 to October 10 in Visakhapatnam, Mumbai, Kolkata and Mohali. Knockout matches will be played in Nagpur from 14 to 25 October. The league stage of the plate group will run from 27 September to 6 October. Its knockout matches will be held in Dimapur from 8 to 10 October.

The league stage of Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite Group will be held from November 12 to December 1 in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Ranchi and Rajkot. Knockout matches will be played in Visakhapatnam from 5 to 17 December. The league stage of the plate group will run from November 12 to November 12. Its knockout matches will be held in Indore from 23rd to 25th November.
