Many times people book early tickets several months before the journey so that they can get the lower window seat. Actually this seat is for women and elderly people. To solve this dilemma of passengers, Indian Railways itself told how to book lower berth seats.
Choose the right quota while booking tickets
If you have got a lower berth seat while booking the ticket, then it will be only for women above 45 years of age, pregnant women and elderly as well as disabled passengers. If you have selected the correct quota of ‘Senior Citizen/Lower Berth’ while booking the ticket and the seat was vacant in the system, then you will get the lower berth automatically. In such a situation, you will not need to worry during the journey. Even after chart preparation, if any other passenger comes and sits on your confirmed lower berth or is refusing to get up after sitting on the seat, then you can immediately complain about it to the on-duty TTE.
Complete method of getting tickets
1. To book train tickets, first of all you have to go to the IRCTC website, then login there.
2. Later you have to select your station in the ‘From’ and ‘To’ options.
3. Then select your train and class.
4. After doing all this, click on ‘Book Now’ and fill the passenger’s information.
5. Select your preference for lower berth.
6. After ticket confirmation, you will get SMS and email information.
