15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who played a stormy inning of 97 runs in 29 balls, has made everyone his fan. Now Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has also praised him a lot. During a conversation on ‘Sports Tak’, Gavaskar called Vaibhav ‘God’s gift to Indian cricket’ and also advocated for his inclusion in the T20 team for the upcoming England tour.
He said that if needed, Sanju Samson or Abhishek Sharma can also be kept out to make a place in the playing eleven, but Vaibhav should get a chance. Gavaskar said emotionally, ‘I want the childhood inside this boy to never end’.
Gavaskar had watched Suryavanshi’s brilliant inning of 97 runs in 29 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL Eliminator and he was impressed by the youngster’s fearless game, especially the way he hit a straight six off Pat Cummins. On the upcoming show ‘Sports Tak’ on YouTube, he said that 2026 will be remembered as the year of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He is ready to play T20 International. He will be selected for the T20 series to be held on the England tour. I mean, after this great performance he deserves to be selected in the team. If you still don’t give him a chance, then when will you give it?’
The former Indian captain says that he is confident that age does not matter because Vaibhav is thrashing all types of bowlers at the age of just 15. According to the news, Gavaskar said, ‘Don’t look at his age. He is hitting bowlers who are bigger than him. In fact, at the age of 15, he is hitting bowlers who have 15 years of international experience. Look at his fearless style.
However, Gavaskar said, ‘Yes, it will be a difficult decision as to who should be dropped. But it’s a good problem. When you have a choice about who to exclude, it shows the depth of talent in your country. I think he will be kept in the team of 15 or 16 players, but whether he will be in the playing eleven or not can be decided later. But the experience you will get by staying in that dressing room will be priceless.
