The dispute between Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment and Ramesh Taurani’s Tips has increased further. On Thursday, Pooja Entertainment filed a case of Rs 400 crore in the Bombay High Court against Tips Industries Limited, Ramesh Taurani, Kumar S Taurani and film producer David Dhawan. It has been alleged in the case that the accused have misused the famous songs of Vashu Bhagnani’s 1999 hit film ‘Biwi No. 1’ in Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’.

Case filed against makers of ‘Hai Jawaani To Ishq Hona Hai’

What did Vasu Bhagnani’s lawyer say?
Speaking about the lawsuit, Bhagnani’s lawyer told news agency ANI, “We have filed a lawsuit against Tips Music Company, claiming compensation of Rs 400 crore. The legal battle has been going on for several days, and the rights of the musicians were not ready to settle. Earlier, the rights of films were based on agreements. Today, music companies buy songs from big producers or lyricists. At that time, the same happened with Tips. The agreements included only audio rights. In 2018, Tips sent us a request for visual rights. Vashu Bhagnani responded to them, but our conversation yielded no results.

The lawyer further said that Pooja Entertainment has sent a notice to Tips and canceled the audio rights already acquired, which means that they cannot use these songs in the new film. Lawyer Dubey further said, “If they are valid owners of music rights, they will have to show their documents. That is why we have filed a claim against TIPS. Justice will prevail and the truth will come out.”

What is the whole controversy?
Two songs from ‘Biwi No. 1’ have been used in David Dhawan’s upcoming film ‘Hai Jawaani To Ishq Hona Hai’. Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment says that the film makers do not have the rights to these songs and they should be removed from the film and promotional content. The title of the film is taken from the song ‘Ishq Sona Hai’, that is why Pooja Entertainment has also demanded to change the title of the film. The production house has also demanded an additional amount of Rs 100 crore as damages for non-compliance of tips and demands by David Dhawan.
