Amidst the Maratha reservation movement, Manoj Jarange broke his fast by drinking water, his health deteriorated last night.

Prominent leader of the Maratha movement, Manoj Jarange Patil, who was on a fast unto death for the last several days demanding Maratha reservation, finally ended his fast on Sunday (31 May). After positive talks between the state government and the representatives of the movement, agreement was reached on many important issues, after which Jarange Patil broke his fast by drinking water.

However, some time after the fast ended, his health deteriorated, due to which he was admitted to Galaxy Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for treatment.

On Sunday, on behalf of the state government, Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, MLA Prasad Lad and other representatives met Manoj Jarange Patil. The discussion between the two sides continued for several hours. During the talks, the government showed a positive attitude on many major demands of the Maratha community and assured to take necessary steps.

After the meeting, Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil ended his fast by giving water to Manoj Jarange Patil. During this time a large number of agitators and people of Maratha community were present.

Big decision regarding Kunbi certificate and validity

After the meeting, Manoj Jarange Patil said that the government has agreed to give Kunbi certificates to eligible people on the basis of 58 lakh Kunbi records. Besides, validity certificate will also be provided to those who have received the certificate.

He said that if officials are negligent or deliberately delay in giving certificate to any eligible person, then action will be taken against them. The government has assured to issue necessary orders in this regard.

Jarange Patil said that the demand for implementing Satara Gazetteer has also been placed before the government. The government has been given one month’s time in this matter. He expressed hope that the government will take necessary steps in this direction within the stipulated time.

Apart from this, a special helpline number will also be issued to solve the problems related to validity certificate, so that people do not have to visit the offices.

Government decision will be issued in two-three days

Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said that work is already going on on many decisions taken by the government after the Mumbai movement. However, there was confusion and doubts in the society regarding some issues, due to which the movement started again.

He said that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is working in the interest of the Maratha community. Now, based on the proposal that has been accepted, the process of implementation will be started by issuing a Government Decision (GR) within the next two to three days.

However, Manoj Jarange Patil made it clear that if the government does not issue the government decision within the stipulated time, then they will again adopt the path of agitation and fast. He said that he has postponed his agitation for the time being only after receiving positive assurance from the government and the Chief Minister.

Target on physical strength, demand for narco test

During the meeting, Manoj Jarange Patil also targeted Chhagan Bhujbal without taking his name. He said that if someone is making false allegations against him, then narco test should be conducted on both of them, so that the truth can be revealed to the public.

Admitted to hospital due to deteriorating health

After the fast ended, Manoj Jarange Patil’s health suddenly deteriorated. On the advice of doctors, he was admitted to Galaxy Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where his treatment is going on. At present, doctors are constantly monitoring his health.

After this important development of the Maratha reservation movement, the movement has been postponed for the time being, but now all eyes are fixed on the next step of the government and the upcoming government decision. If the government fulfills its promises on time, then this long-running dispute can move towards resolution.
