Rules for rain in IPL 2026 final

According to IPL rules, a reserve day is kept for the final match. Efforts will be made to finish the match today itself before the reserve day is implemented. An additional time of 120 minutes is also given to get the result of the match. Today the result of the match can be known only when there is at least five overs of play in both the innings.

Still, if the game could not start today i.e. 31st May due to any reason, then the title match will be held on Reserve Day i.e. 1st June. But take a look at the rules of the playoff.

Result will come from super-over

If at least five overs of play cannot be played even on the reserve day, then a super over can also be conducted if necessary. According to Article 16.1.1 of IPL playoff rules, a super over can be conducted for the result. If there is no result even in the super-over, then a second and then a third super over may also happen.

If the Super-Over cannot be played due to rain or any other reason, then the team which finished in a better position in the points table will be declared the winner. In this situation, Bengaluru will be declared champion to top the table.
