Trump Tariff News: Amidst the war with Iran, US President Donald Trump has made a big announcement. Trump announced a 10 percent reduction in tariffs on a variety of agricultural and industrial equipment, bringing tariffs down from 25% to 15% by the end of next year. All countries use 85 percent American steel or aluminum. This change on tariff will remain effective till 2027.
Under the changes, tariffs on farm machinery such as combines, harvesters and other farm equipment will be reduced to 15% from the current 25%. The US government said that the purpose of this cut is to reduce costs for producers as well as promote investment in America’s agricultural sector. This announcement also expands the scope of industrial equipment on which the reduced tariff rate of 15% will be applicable.

Mobile industrial machinery, including bulldozers, forklifts and other similar equipment, which are imported from countries covered by US trade agreements, will now be eligible for the benefit of reduced duty. In a further incentive aimed at boosting domestic metal production, foreign manufacturers will enjoy an even lower tariff rate of 10% on imported capital equipment if their equipment consists of at least 85% US-made steel or aluminum by weight. For this, steel must be melted and molded in the United States, while aluminum must be melted and molded domestically.
“President Trump has used tariffs on imported aluminum, steel, and copper to protect the national security of the United States, the economic stability of critical industries, and the financial health of American families, communities, and businesses from the threat of low-cost foreign imports,” a White House statement said.
