Speaking at an event, de Villiers said that it would have been easy for the selectors to ignore the 15-year-old player and choose a more experienced player, but he felt that Vaibhav’s performance made the decision impossible to ignore.
De Villiers said, “It would have been easy to say that he is still too young and not ready, and a more experienced player would have been selected. He has proved his ability. He deserves his place in the Indian T20 team, so I am happy for him.”
