Lalu Yadav’s party RJD has suffered a major setback amid the MLC elections in Bihar. RJD leader and former minister Shivchandra resigned from the party on Monday (June 08, 2026). He held a press conference and presented his views.
The reason behind the resignation is not getting a ticket in the Bihar Legislative Council elections. RJD has made Sunil Singh its candidate on one seat. Sunil Singh also filed his nomination on Monday. Shivchandra Ram was seen crying bitterly during the press conference.
Shivchandra Ram told the media that he has been associated with RJD since 1990. He said that while being in RJD, he followed the party’s policy and whatever orders were there. Shivchandra Ram said, “RJD gave us a summons, congratulated Lalu-Tejashwi, but the way I have spent my life for the last three-four days…” saying this he started crying bitterly.

Shivchandra Ram spoke about injustice
Former minister Shivchandra Ram further said, “Injustice has been done to us… people of our community have come to Patna and are in the hotel for three days. These people are also hurt. Today I am resigning from the post of national president of RJD’s SC-ST cell.”
Shivchandra Ram also made it clear that he resigns from all the posts he holds in the party. Responding to the question of future politics, Shivchandra said that whatever will happen in the future, he will give information about it.
He did not openly reveal the reason behind leaving RJD but hinted at the fact that he was angry because of the ticket in the MLC elections. He said that he was cheated. The party had promised him respect. Shivchandra Ram was not openly revealing the reason for his resignation. When asked about this, he said, “What will we fear…”
