S. Janaki Amma was known as the Nightingale of South India. She was also fondly called Janaki Amma by her fans. S. Janaki started her music career at the age of 20. He recorded more than 48 thousand songs. Apart from Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi, she had sung songs in about 20 languages.
