Bangladeshi cricketer’s big revelation – ‘We were told that there is no security in India, I said – take a gun outside the room in Pakistan…’

During the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the controversy related to Bangladesh remained a topic of discussion throughout the tournament. Due to this uproar, Bangladesh did not participate in the tournament and Scotland again got to play in its place. Regarding playing the T20 World Cup in India, Bangladesh Cricket Board cited security reasons and refused to send the team to India.

However, this decision gave rise to debate among cricket fans and experts, as there were reports of many players being in favor of playing in India. BCB had refused to send its team to India citing threat to the safety of the players. Meanwhile, Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das has given his reaction on the entire controversy. One of his interviews is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which he has made sharp remarks about the role of Bangladesh Cricket Board officials and Pakistan.

In this interview he said, ‘The BCB official told us that there is no security in India. We told them, we have played in Pakistan also. They used to stand outside the room with guns. What could be more dangerous than this? If we can play in Pakistan then why not in India?

Just before the T20 World Cup, in the auction for IPL 2026, KKR team bought Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh for a huge amount of Rs 9.20 crore. Shortly after the auction, a period of political instability started in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, news of incidents of violence against Hindu minorities evoked sharp reactions in India also. The heat of this controversy reached the cricket world and the debate regarding Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who was involved in the IPL, also intensified. Some sections on social media raised the demand for ban on Bangladeshi players, due to which the matter started gaining momentum. Amidst the growing controversy and sensitive circumstances, Kolkata Knight Riders decided to release Mustafizur Rahman from their team before the start of the tournament.
