All-rounder players have always been of utmost importance in cricket. Players who have the ability to change the course of the match with both bat and ball are considered the biggest strength of any team. There have been many great all-rounders in the long history of ODI cricket, but there have been only four players who have made the unique record of scoring a century and taking five wickets in a single match.

Vivian Richards (West Indies)

The first name in this list is that of the great West Indies batsman Sir Vivian Richards. He achieved this historic feat against New Zealand in Dunedin in 1987. Richards, batting first, scored 119 runs in 113 balls. After this, he also showed excellence in bowling and took 5 wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs with his off-spin. He became the first player to achieve this feat in ODI cricket.

Paul Collingwood (England)

Former England captain Paul Collingwood had achieved this feat in 2005 against Bangladesh in Nottingham. Collingwood first scored a brilliant 112 runs and played an important role in taking his team to a huge score of 391 runs. After this, in bowling he took 6 wickets for 31 runs. Thanks to his all-round performance, England won the match by 168 runs.

Rohan Mustafa (UAE)

Former United Arab Emirates (UAE) captain Rohan Mustafa made this unique record against Papua New Guinea in Abu Dhabi in 2017. While opening, Mustafa played an excellent inning of 109 runs. After this, he also performed brilliantly in bowling and took 5 wickets by spending only 25 runs. His all-round game played an important role in giving UAE a memorable victory.

Bas de Leede (Netherlands)

Netherlands’ star all-rounder Bas de Leede achieved this rare feat against Scotland in the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. In the match played in Bulawayo, he bowled first and took 5 wickets for 52 runs. After this, while chasing the target, he played a brilliant inning of 123 runs in 92 balls. Thanks to his strong performance, Netherlands won the match and also qualified for the 2023 ODI World Cup. De Leede became the fourth player to take a century and five wickets in the same ODI match.

Indian players could not achieve this feat till now
The interesting thing is that till now in the history of ODI cricket, no Indian player has been able to achieve this rare record of taking a century and five wickets in the same match. So far only four players have achieved this unique feat in world cricket.
