The President said that this achievement is not only a record of remaining in office for a long time, but it is also a proof of the trust and confidence repeatedly expressed by the people of India on the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

President Anura Kumar Dissanayake said in his message that a large, diverse and vibrant democracy like India is an example for the world. He said that relations between India and Sri Lanka are based on mutual trust, geographical proximity, deep cultural and civilizational ties and the common goal of prosperity of the people of both the countries. He expressed special gratitude for India’s support and friendship to Sri Lanka in difficult times.

The President said that Sri Lanka is especially grateful for India’s unwavering friendship and the personal cooperation and support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the way India supported Sri Lanka in challenging circumstances is a proof of the strong relations between the two countries.
