Why is Kim Jong Un considered the illegitimate child of his father? read the whole story

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has never mentioned his mother’s name publicly even after 15 years of assuming power. There is a deep secret hidden behind this silence. He is considered the illegitimate child of his father Kim Jong Il. His mother Ko Yong-hui was not Kim Jong Il’s official wife, but his mistress. In North Korea, power remains with only one family and there is a lot of discrimination in the society. In this environment, this family history is such a big and sensitive thing that the entire government machinery is busy in publicity day and night to hide it.

Who was Kim Jon Un’s mother?

Ko Yong-hui was born in 1952 in Osaka city of Japan. His parents were from Jeju Island in South Korea. Being from a family of ‘Zainichi Koreans’ who had gone during the Japanese colonial period, he was viewed with suspicion in North Korea. In the 1960s (i.e. between 1960 and 1970), his family came to North Korea under the influence of a government campaign named ‘Heaven on Earth’. There, these Koreans (Jainichi Koreans) who returned from Japan are viewed with suspicion and are placed in the unstable category (i.e. those who cannot be completely trusted). Their position in North Korea’s ‘Songbun’ (caste or social status) system was considered very low and weak.

Nevertheless, Ko Yong Hui caught the attention of Kim Jong Il due to her beauty and dancing skills. She was a member of Mansooda Art Troupe. Kim Jong Il was already married and his wife Kim Yong Sok was the daughter of a high military officer, but he developed a deep relationship with Ko Yong-hui. Ko Yong-hui, who became the mother of three children, never formally received the status of a wife.

Ko Yong Hui did not get a big honor

Kim Jong Un is the youngest son of ‘Ko Yong Hui’. In North Korea, it is believed that only the one whose blood is related to the royal family of ‘Mount Paekto’ (a sacred mountain there) has the right to rule the country. For this reason, Kim Il Sung and his mother (Kang Pan Sok), who started the country, were given a big and respectable status in the country as ‘Mothers of Korea’. But Kim Jong Un’s mother ‘Ko Yong Hui’ never received this honour. The reason for this was that she had returned from Japan (Zainichi) and her relationship with the Kim family was also considered illegitimate.

According to experts, former North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il had kept his girlfriend ‘Ko Yong Hui’ and their children at a place called ‘Wansan’, away from the capital Pyongyang. While living there, Ko Yong Hui was free to use Japanese goods and Japanese lifestyle as per his choice. For this reason, the childhood of current dictator Kim Jong Un was deeply influenced by the Japanese language and culture.

Kim Jong Un had two brothers in the race for power

Kim Jong Un also had two elder brothers, but due to various reasons they were not considered fit to take over the power of the country. Elder brother ‘Kim Jong Nam’ was thinking of bringing change and reform, hence he was removed. While the other brother ‘Kim Jong Chul’ was thrown out of the race to become the king (heir) due to drug addiction. Ultimately, the youngest son Kim Jong Un was chosen as the next dictator of the country.

His mother ‘Ko Yong Hui’ had a big role in making Kim Jong Un the next king (dictator) of North Korea. He taught his son the qualities of becoming a leader and always inspired him to move forward. In 2011, when Kim Jong Un’s father (Kim Jong Il) died, Kim Jong Un came to power in the country, but the strange thing is that the news of his mother’s death was never shown by the government media there, that is, it was kept completely hidden. In North Korea, the birthdays of Kim Jong Un’s grandfather and father are celebrated as national festivals throughout the country, but no such holiday is given on his mother’s birthday.

Kim Jong Un preparing to make his daughter his successor

Having an illegitimate child is considered a huge stigma in the strict and strict society of North Korea. To avoid this stigma, dictator Kim Jong Un presented his wife ‘Ri Sol Ju’ in front of everyone, because she comes from a very good and high social status (Songbun) family. Now Kim Jong Un is preparing to make his daughter ‘Jo A’ the next dictator (successor) of the country.

Experts believe that Kim Jong Un keeps his family history hidden because if the truth about his mother comes to the public then doubts will arise in the minds of people. This will prove false his claim that his family belongs to the sacred and royal breed of ‘Mount Pacto’. This is the reason why even after 15 years of coming to power, Kim Jong Un avoids taking his mother’s name.
