Nisarg Adhikari, who made his mark in the world of cyber security at the age of just 19, has got a big responsibility in IIT Kanpur. Nisarg, who recently came into limelight by exposing the security flaws of CBSE’s Online Marking System (OSM), has been appointed as OSINT and Threat Intelligence Engineer in Cyber ​​Security and Cyber ​​Defense of Critical Infrastructure Hub (C3iHub) of IIT Kanpur.

Nisarg’s role at IIT Kanpur will be related to open-source intelligence (OSINT) and cyber threat intelligence. Under this, they will analyze digital platforms and publicly available information, identify potential cyber threats and work to find security flaws. Besides, they will also contribute in research work related to ethical hacking and cyber security.

Nisarg told that this is his first full-time post, where he is working entirely in the field of cyber security. Before this he had worked in software engineering, but cyber security was a matter of personal interest and passion for him.

Director of IIT Kanpur himself contacted

According to Nisarg, IIT Kanpur Director Professor Manindra Aggarwal himself had contacted him. During the conversation, he got detailed information about the cyber security and research work going on in the institute, which inspired him to accept this role. Nisarg said that when Professor Manindra Aggarwal, Director of IIT Kanpur, gave me this opportunity, our conversation was very inspiring. I got the opportunity to closely understand the cyber security work happening in the institute and this further increased my interest in this role.

Cyber ​​security journey started at the age of 13

Nisarg was interested in technology and computers since childhood. He told that at the age of about 13, he started learning about cyber security just out of curiosity. Gradually this interest became the goal of his career.

CBSE portal became a topic of discussion by exposing its flaws

Recently, Nisarg came into limelight at the national level when he drew attention towards the security vulnerabilities present in the Online Marking System (OSM) of CBSE. After his report, a new debate started regarding cyber security and security of digital platforms. However, the purpose of Nisarg was not to harm any system, but to help in identifying security flaws and improving them. This is also considered to be the basic principle of ethical hacking.

IIT Kanpur also praised

IIT Kanpur Director Professor Manindra Aggarwal said on Nisarg’s appointment that he has demonstrated remarkable technical ability at an early age. According to him, there is a lot of potential in Nisarg and working in IIT Kanpur will give him an opportunity to further hone his talent. They will also be able to contribute significantly to C3iHub’s cyber security and threat intelligence initiatives.
