Bangladesh has won the ODI series against Australia for the first time. In the second ODI played on Thursday, Bangladesh defeated Australia by 5 wickets and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series. This is Bangladesh’s first ODI series win against Australia.

Asked about defending the score of 187, Inglis said, “You always have to have faith. You have to give everything and believe in yourself. I thought the pitch still had a lot to offer with the new ball. If we could have taken the first three or four wickets, we would have stayed in the competition. I thought we bowled well in the middle overs and kept taking wickets, which gave us a real chance. But that last partnership took the match away from us. We just had to play. There is a need to improve in all three aspects. Our players have got a good start, but this is something in which we are disappointing ourselves.
He said, “Bangladesh has played better than us in the series so far, so full credit goes to them for the victory. We will regroup, come back strongly and try to end the series on a positive note.”

Bangladesh was given a revised target of 192 runs in 41 overs under the DLS rule. Bangladesh won the match by 5 wickets by scoring 195 runs for 5 wickets in 35 overs. Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was chosen player of the match. Rahman took 3 wickets for 27 runs in 7 overs.
