‘I was brutally beaten…’, beaten with a plastic pipe, even strangulated; Cricketer’s sensational allegation

A strange case of cricket has come to light from Bangladesh. All-rounder player Nayeem Hasan has accused the police of assault. This incident is being reported from Chittagong, where Nayeem Hasan was attacked on Friday night. Bangladesh cricket world has expressed strong protest over this incident. Nayeem Hasan made his Test debut for Bangladesh in 2018, but has not played ODI and T20.

Nayeem Hasan, 26, said he was returning home from Dhaka airport after playing a division cricket match. Nayeem was traveling in an auto-rickshaw, but then some police officers stopped the auto-rickshaw near Lalkhan Bazaar area of Chittagong.

Nayeem alleged that the police officers misbehaved with him without giving any reason and also tried to strangulate him. The cricketer said that he was forcefully taken to the police station in a separate auto-rickshaw. People nearby told that Nayeem had been a part of the Bangladesh national cricket team, but the police officers did not listen to them.

He further said – The police beat me badly with a plastic pipe and stick. When I revealed my identity, the station in-charge there asked me to talk with my eyes down. If he had been a police officer, he would have taken him in a police jeep instead of a CNG auto-rickshaw. I demand a fair investigation and justice into this entire matter.”

Let us tell you that Nayeem had returned to his home on Saturday morning. After these allegations, veteran Bangladesh cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim has also come forward in support of Nayeem. Bangladesh Cricket Board also expressed concern over this incident and assured a fair investigation.
