Senior Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Saturday (June 13). This meeting took place after talks with Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav. When Bandyopadhyay went to Yadav’s residence on Motilal Nehru Marg, rebel Trinamool MP Shatabdi Roy was also with him.
A few hours after the meeting between Bandyopadhyay and Shah, former minister Manas Bhunia resigned from TMC. 74-year-old Bhunia told NDTV that he is unhappy with the ongoing crisis in the party, but did not tell what his next step would be. 77 year old Sudip Bandyopadhyay has been a Lok Sabha MP for 6 times. He is an MP from Kolkata North seat of West Bengal and the leader of Trinamool Congress in the Lok Sabha.
On Bandyopadhyay’s meeting with Bhupendra Yadav, TMC MLA Kunal Ghosh said, “Mamata Didi gave position and respect to these people and in return these people are doing the same. Sudip Bandyopadhyay has a history of changing parties. We had told that he was not well and his politics was only run by misleading Mamata Didi. I was also suspended from the party once for this. Today it is being proved that what I had said that day, He was right.”
Lust for power and position: Kunal Ghosh
Ghosh further said that it was because of Bandyopadhyay’s “lust for power and position” that Trinamool lost many important leaders to the BJP. Capable leaders like Tapas Roy and Sajal Ghosh left the party because Sudip da was afraid of losing his position and he was greedy for power and position in the party. Earlier too, I was suspended from the party for speaking against him and in favor of senior leaders like Tapas da. Now the leadership should understand what kind of person they had supported earlier.”
After the meeting of party leaders at the Trinamool office at former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s house in Kalighat, Ghosh raised the question whether such behavior of the Kolkata North MP towards the former Chief Minister was right, even though he had expressed great trust and respect in him.
