100 Percent Ethanol Fuel: The central government has taken a big step towards promoting alternative fuels in the country. The government has approved the use of 100 percent ethanol fuel, after which preparations have started to rapidly advance the ethanol-based transportation system in the country. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced that the file approving the legal use of 100 percent ethanol fuel has been signed. With this, the way has been cleared for vehicles and fuel stations running on 100 percent ethanol in the country. In such a situation, let us now tell you which city will be the first to get 100 percent ethanol fuel.
Will start from these cities
To make ethanol fuel available to the common people, the central government is first going to start special ethanol fuel stations in some major cities of the country. According to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, in the initial phase, 50 to 100 percent ethanol dispensing stations will be set up in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. After this this network will be expanded rapidly. The government’s target is to increase the number of such stations across the country to 500 by the end of 2026. There is a plan to start about 5000 ethanol fuel stations by 2027. Through these stations, fuels like E85 and 100 will be made available to flex fuel vehicles.
New vehicles will run on 100 percent ethanol
After the approval of the government, many automobile companies are preparing to enter the market with vehicles running on 100 percent ethanol. Recently Maruti Suzuki has introduced its flex fuel WagonR. Hero MotoCorp has also launched flex fuel models of Splendor and HF Deluxe. According to Nitin Gadkari, in the next two months, Toyota Suzuki, Hyundai and other companies can also launch vehicles which will be capable of running on E 100 fuel. The government believes that with the expansion of flex fuel technology, the demand for ethanol will increase and the use of alternative fuel in the country will increase rapidly.

Why is 100 percent ethanol fuel important?
India imports large quantities of crude oil every year, on which billions of dollars are spent. The government believes that the use of fuel like E100 will reduce dependence on imported oil and will help in meeting the country’s energy needs domestically. Along with this, ethanol based fuel will also help in reducing pollution and promoting clean energy.
