The team management is continuously giving opportunities to young players in the ODI series being played between India and Afghanistan. In the first match, Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor Brar had made their debut in international cricket, while now in the second ODI, fast bowler Prince Yadav has got a chance to debut for India. Prince, who came into limelight with his impressive performance in IPL 2026, has now made the journey to the national team. In the second ODI match being played on June 17, Prince Yadav got the opportunity to take the field for the first time on behalf of the Indian team.

He has been rewarded for his consistently good performance in domestic cricket and IPL in the form of selection in the national team. The Indian team management is working on a strategy to test new players in this series and Prince has also been given a chance in this series. He came into the limelight as the wicket of Virat Kohli. During IPL 2026, Prince Yadav troubled many batsmen with his fast bowling. However, the wicket which brought him the most discussion was that of Virat Kohli. He had stunned Kohli with his speed and precise line-length. After that wicket, his name was discussed a lot in the cricket world and he started being counted among the fast bowlers of the future.

Who is Prince Yadav?

Right-arm fast bowler Prince Yadav has made his mark by performing brilliantly in the IPL. In the 2025 IPL auction, Lucknow Super Giants included him in their team at a price of Rs 30 lakh. In the first season, he got limited opportunities and he took 3 wickets in 6 matches. After this, his performance in IPL 2026 was much better. He proved his usefulness by taking 16 wickets in 14 matches. Even though Lucknow Super Giants’ season did not live up to expectations, Prince’s bowling continued to impress.

Left a mark in domestic cricket too

Prince Yadav, who hails from Delhi, has been continuously progressing in domestic cricket also. Till now he has played 2 First Class, 14 List-A and 35 T20 matches. In these three formats, he has taken 1, 29 and 38 wickets respectively. Prince Yadav, who has traveled from domestic cricket to IPL and now to the Indian team, will now face the challenge of proving himself at the international level. This opportunity against Afghanistan could prove to be the biggest milestone in his career.
