Iran and America signed an agreement early in the morning on Thursday (June 18, 2026) to end the war that has been going on for months. US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian signed the Iran-US Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) digitally. Trump has signed this MoU in the presence of President Emmanuel Macron in France.
Under the agreement, military action in Iran and Lebanon will be ended, the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened and America’s naval blockade will be ended. Article 1
By signing this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the United States, Iran, and their allies in the current war declare an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. They undertake not to initiate any war or military action against each other in the future, to refrain from using force or the threat of force, and to ensure the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon. The final agreement will reaffirm this article and a permanent end to the war on all fronts.
Article 2
The US and Iran will respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and will not interfere in each other’s internal affairs.

Article 3
Both parties are committed to negotiate and conclude a final agreement within a maximum period of 60 days, which may be extended by mutual consent.
Article 4
As soon as this MOU is signed, America will start the process of removing its naval blockade and all other obstacles against Iran and will completely end the blockade within 30 days. During this period, the movement of ships will be restored to pre-war levels. Within 30 days of the final agreement, America will also withdraw its military presence near the border of Iran.
Article 5
After the signing of the MOU, Iran will make every effort to arrange safe and free passage of commercial vessels from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman and back for 60 days. Commercial shipping traffic will resume immediately and will be fully restored within 30 days after removal of technical and military barriers and clearance of mines. Iran will work with Oman and other Gulf coastal countries to discuss the future governance and maritime services of the Strait of Hormuz in line with international law.
Article 6
America, along with its regional partners, will prepare a plan worth at least $300 billion for the reconstruction and economic development of Iran. The arrangements for implementation of this scheme will be decided in 60 days under the final agreement. The US will provide all licenses, exemptions and permissions necessary for financial transactions.
Article 7
The US will end all sanctions on Iran as per the timetable set as part of the final agreement. This will include UN Security Council resolutions, IAEA Board of Governors resolutions, and all US primary and secondary sanctions. Both sides agree that lifting the sanctions is a matter of utmost importance and will begin talks immediately.
Article 8
Iran reaffirms that it will neither acquire nor develop nuclear weapons. Both sides will develop a mutually agreed mechanism for the disposal of existing reserves of enriched uranium under the supervision of the IAEA. As a minimum arrangement, uranium will be down-blended at the site itself. Both sides will also discuss Iran’s nuclear needs, uranium enrichment and other related topics. These provisions will be confirmed in the final agreement.

Article 9
Both sides will maintain status quo until the final agreement. Iran will maintain the current status of its nuclear program, while the US will not impose any new sanctions and will not deploy additional military forces in the region.
Article 10
Once this MOU is signed and until the sanctions end, the US Treasury Department will provide the necessary exemptions for the export of Iranian crude oil, petroleum products and their related services – such as banking, insurance and transportation.
Article 11
The United States will make all frozen or restricted funds and assets of Iran available for use as soon as this MOU comes into force. Both sides will agree during the talks on the process of release of these funds. These funds, whether held in the original account or transferred, will be fully usable for payment to the final beneficiaries designated by the Central Bank of Iran. America will issue all the licenses and permissions required for this.
Article 12
Both parties will establish an executive mechanism to monitor the successful implementation and compliance of this MOU and future final agreements.
Article 13
Following the signing of this MOU and the beginning of implementation of Articles 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 and their continued observance, the United States and Iran will begin special negotiations for a final agreement on the remaining articles.
Article 14
The final agreement will be approved by a binding resolution of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
