Good news for 7 crore employees of EPFO: 8.25% interest rate approved, know when will the money come into the account?

EPFO Interest Rate News: Every person working in private or government institutions is aware of Employees Provident Fund (EPF). Under this, funds are deposited to secure the future of the employees and ensure continuous financial support even after retirement. Now the government has taken a big step for the employees availing the benefit of this fund and has increased the interest rates on it.

The Finance Ministry has given official approval to increase the interest rate to 8.25% for more than 7 crore account holders of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). The government has increased the interest rates on deposits in the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) for the year 2025-26. According to media reports, the Finance Ministry has approved the 8.25% interest rate fixed by the Central Board of Trustees (CBT). It is expected that this month this amount will be deposited in the accounts of about 7 crore EPF members. Let us tell you that CBT is the biggest decision making body of the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO).

Interest rates remain stable for the third consecutive year

In the CBT meeting chaired by Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on March 2, it was decided to fix the interest rate at 8.25% for the financial year 2025-26. It is noteworthy that this is the third consecutive year when it was decided to maintain the interest rate at 8.25%. The interest rate in the financial year 2022-23 was 8.15%, which was increased to 8.25% in 2023-24 and now the same rate will be applicable at present also.

The annual interest rate of 8.25% on monthly basis comes to 0.688% per month. That means, at the end of every month, whatever balance is there in your PF account (employee and employer’s contribution), interest is added at the rate of 0.688%. At the end of the year, it is credited to your PF account simultaneously.
