Gurnoor Brar created history in the first ODI series, no Indian could do this; Big giants left behind

Gurnoor Brar has created history in his debut series. He made his international debut in the ODI series against Afghanistan. By taking one wicket in the third match, he made the record of taking the most wickets for India in the debut series. This record is only for those series in which three ODI matches were played.

Gurnoor Brar took at least one wicket in all three ODI matches against Afghanistan. In the first ODI match played in Dharamshala, he took 3 wickets for 27 runs. After that, when he reached Lucknow, he maintained his form and dismissed three batsmen. In the third ODI, he made the record of taking the most wickets by making Mohammad Nabi a victim.

Most wickets in debut series (for India)

The record of taking most wickets in the debut series for India was in the names of Yuzvendra Chahal and Prasidh Krishna. Both of them took 6 wickets in their respective debut ODI series. But Gurnoor Brar has gone ahead of them all. He has taken 7 wickets in the 3-match ODI series against Afghanistan.

Talking about Yuzvendra Chahal, he took 6 wickets in his first series against Zimbabwe in 2016. Prasidh Krishna made his ODI debut against England in 2021. Prasidh had taken 6 wickets in that series.

Gurnoor Brar has been a part of the Gujarat Titans team in the IPL since the 2025 season, but has not been able to play a single match for Gujarat till now. But before that he had performed well in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. In SMAT, he took 10 wickets in 6 matches and in Vijay Hazare Trophy, he took 11 wickets in 8 matches.
