US President Donald Trump has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump described both the leaders as among the world leaders whom he admires the most. He praised the leadership, political strength and global influence of Modi and Xi Jinping, calling them ‘classic leaders’.
Trump took the names of Modi and Xi Jinping in the interview
In an interview given to ‘The Axios Show’ aired on Friday, Trump was asked which two leaders he admires the most at the international level. In response to this question, he first took the name of Chinese President Xi Jinping. When he was asked to name another leader, he mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, ‘I think Modi is very good.’
‘Modi stays away from wars, it is wise’
Praising Prime Minister Modi’s foreign policy and leadership style, Trump said that he stays away from unnecessary wars. He said, ‘He stays away from wars, which is a wise step. India’s population is about 1.5 billion. In fact India is now the largest country. Modi is a great leader.
Trump also spoke on trade relations with India
Referring to India-America trade relations, the US President said that trade takes place on a large scale between the two countries and now this trade is being done in a fair manner. Trump said, ‘We do a lot of trade with India, but now we are doing fair trade.’
‘Both Modi and Xi are classic leaders’
Donald Trump compared both Modi and Xi Jinping to influential movie characters and said that it is not easy to find a personality like them. He said, ‘Modi is great. President Xi is also great. Both are classic. If you want to make a film on one of these, you will not find a person like him even in Hollywood.
Modi’s long tenure also appreciated
Trump also praised Prime Minister Modi’s long political tenure and stable leadership. He said that earlier governments in India used to change frequently, but Modi has given stable leadership for more than a decade.
He said, ‘I have watched Indian politics my whole life. There were constant changes happening there. Some stayed for six months, some for a year. But then Prime Minister Modi came and now it has been more than 12 years. This is a sign of very strong leadership.
‘Modi looks calm, but is a very strong leader’
Trump said that Prime Minister Modi is known for his calm nature, but in reality he is a very strong and tough leader. He said, ‘He works in a very calm manner. But he is not really a quiet person. He is a very strong and strict leader. I know him very well.

During the interview, Trump also discussed the different leadership styles of global leaders. He said that the nature and working style of many leaders of the world may be different, but in terms of influence and authority, Modi and Xi Jinping stand out.
