The partnership of 170 runs made by Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the first wicket is the fourth biggest partnership in the ODI format against Afghanistan. Zimbabwe’s Hamilton Maskadza and Sikandar Raza are at number one. Both of them had made a partnership of 224 runs for the first wicket against Afghanistan in Bulawayo in 2014. Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando of Sri Lanka are at second place. In Pallekele in 2024, both of them had added 182 runs for the first wicket against Afghanistan. The same Sri Lankan pair is also at number three. Both of them had made a partnership of 173 runs for the first wicket in another match in 2024.
