Great England batsman Joe Root completed his 14,000 Test runs in the second innings of the second Test being played against New Zealand. He is moving fast towards breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring most runs in Tests. He had scored 46 runs in the first innings of this test, he missed the half-century but completed his half-century in the second innings.
Second batsman to score 14 thousand runs
Joe Root is the second batsman in the world to touch the mark of 14,000 runs in Test cricket. Apart from him, only Sachin Tendulkar has done this, who is currently the highest run-scorer in Tests. Root is at number two in this list. At number three is Ricky Ponting, who has scored a total of 13378 runs in 287 innings in his Test career.
How many runs behind Sachin
Till the time of writing the news, Joe Root has completed his half-century, he is unbeaten on the score of 54. A total of 14049 runs have been scored in his test. This is Root’s 165th Test and 302nd innings. He has scored 41 centuries in this format. His highest score in test is 262.

Sachin Tendulkar played 200 Tests in his international career, in which he scored 15921 runs in 329 innings. Sachin scored 51 centuries and 68 half-centuries in Tests. He is the only batsman who has scored 50 or more centuries in this format.
Till the time of writing the news, Joe Root is still 1872 runs behind Sachin Tendulkar in terms of test runs. 35-year-old Root can comfortably play Test cricket for 2-3 years, there is every possibility that he will break this record of Sachin.
