Vance, who was at the Swiss resort Bergenstock after talks with Iranian officials, said that ever since Field Marshal Asim Munir welcomed us in Islamabad along with PM Sharif, I jokingly say that there are two very important people in my life. An Indian and a Pakistani. Indian is my wife. Pakistani Field Marshal is Munir.

Vance said these things in the presence of Munir and Sharif. Both had participated in peace talks. Pakistan and Qatar had mediated in this talks. Vance praised Munir, saying that in the last three months he has talked to the Pakistan Army Chief more than almost any other person. In the last three months I have probably talked to Munir more than anyone else. Without his wisdom and military leadership we would not be here. He has proved himself to be an excellent diplomat.
Earlier, the first round of talks between America and Iran had ended after 21 hours. During that time, Vance had described Munir and Sharif as excellent hosts for reducing the distance between America and Iran. He was also addressed as an excellent politician. The two countries were not in serious talks for two decades. During this, Vance had said that Pakistan had done good work.

Apart from this, about his Indian-origin wife Usha Vance, the Vice President had said that he had told his mother about Usha Vance. Then his mother asked which tribe he belonged to. Vance had said that he met Usha in 2010 while studying in law school. Got married in 2014. It included Hindu traditions. Both have three children. A fourth child is also going to be born soon. Earlier, Vance had said that he hoped that one day his Hindu wife would convert to Christianity.
