21 June 2026 US and Iran talks in Switzerland with the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan (Zurich talks) It has started. This has been announced by the Foreign Ministry of Qatar. Expressing hope, the ministry said that the outcome of these meetings is a permanent agreement, which will be in place for a long time. In this, all the aspects included in the MOU will be discussed. MOU is a memorandum of understanding, which has been digitally signed by both the countries.
According to Al Jazeera, many top leaders including America’s Vice President JD Vance, Iran Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif participated in this meeting. Qatar’s delegation is also present in this talks. Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian has made many revelations regarding the preliminary agreement with America. Ahead of the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Swiss Federal Council member Ignazio Cassis at the Burgenstock Resort in Oberaugen near Lucerne on June 21, 2026.

Qatar Foreign Ministry has said that special technical and expert groups have been formed to negotiate the terms of the final agreement between America and Iran. This will cover all aspects of the MOU. Apart from this, monitoring and development as well as follow up groups have also been formed to implement the memorandum. Qatar is trying its best to ensure that the talks achieve their goals. Dialogue is the only good way to avoid war.

Iran’s President expressed hopes before the meeting
Before the meeting, Iran’s first President Mohammad Reza Aref expressed hope that the talks taking place in Switzerland would be successful. He said that we are entering a new era. An era where boycotting any country in the Arab region will no longer be an option. It is not possible to do this.

Last week Iran and America signed MoU
Last week, US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian signed an MoU. This began a 60-day process of discussion to restore peace in the Middle East. Pakistan remains the main mediator in this agreement. Technical level talks were to be held from June 19, but were delayed due to new clashes due to ceasefire violation by Israel.
