Due to the scorching heat in Patna, the capital of Bihar, all government and private schools will remain closed for now. There is an order to keep all government and private schools up to class 8 closed till June 27. Patna DM Kundan Kumar has issued an order in this regard. The scorching heat and heatwave can have the biggest impact on school children. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the health of school children.

A press release issued by Patna DM Kundan Kumar said, “The extreme heat in the district, especially the high temperatures in the afternoon, is likely to have adverse effects on the health and life of children. Therefore, I, Kundan Kumar, District Magistrate, Patna district, impose a complete ban on educational activities of classes up to 8th in all private and government schools of Patna district till June 27, 2026.

Classes from 9th to 12th will continue

It further said, “All school managements are directed to reschedule educational activities as per this order.” This order will be in force from 22 June 2026 to 27 June 2026. Along with this, all pre-schools will also remain closed during this period. At the same time, classes from class 9 to 12 will continue till 11:00 am with necessary precautions.

Severe heat in many districts including Patna

It is noteworthy that severe heat and heatwave continues in many districts of the state including Bihar’s capital Patna. The life of common people is being affected due to heat wave and extreme heat. Here, according to Patna Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature of Patna was recorded at 40.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

The temperature in Kaimur of the state was recorded at 41.6 degrees, in Gaya the temperature was 40.2 degrees. Whereas in Buxar 40.6 degrees Celsius was recorded. The Meteorological Department has said in its forecast that there is likely to be no significant change in the maximum temperatures at many places in the state during the next two to three days.
