In this special conversation, Imtiaz Ali spoke openly about his new film, its thinking and the emotions behind making it. He said that today’s Gen Z generation is often misunderstood. People think that this generation sees relationships only as a give and take, but according to them, true love, belongingness and deep emotional connection still exists in the hearts of the youth.
The pain of partition, memories of separated homes and the love that remained in the heart for many decades have been shown in a very sensitive manner in the film. Imtiaz Ali told that he made this film taking inspiration from the stories and experiences of people who had witnessed Partition. To bring Naseeruddin Shah’s character closer to the truth, he spent time with such people and carefully understood their behavior.
He also praised the acting and hard work of Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina and Sharvari. Regarding music, he said that AR Rahman and Irshad Kamil strengthened the emotions of the film with their work. At the end of the conversation Imtiaz Ali said that he wants to create stories that can give hope, emotions and entertainment to the audience simultaneously.
